Let me be honest, if you told me 3 years ago that I would be having my own brand and a website I probably would have laughed out loud but here I am, a Facebook page, Instagram, twitter, Google plus and LinkedIn account later still doing what im doing; serving relevant and good nutrition information to make lifestyles better and healthier.
I can never do things and not let you in on how I did it because let’s face it we all need each other; I know something you don’t and you definitely know things I don’t.
So, I decided to give you a few tips I discovered along the way regarding blogging. Because as they say experience is our best teacher. So if you thinking of blogging or starting a social media page, keep these things in mind…
1. Stick to what you know
If you know music do music; if you know engineering do engineering; if you know fashion do fashion. It makes research and picking topics easier. It will overlap with other fields but stick to what you know and make your vision clear.
2. Be consistent
Yes I have had many days where I did not feel like writing a blog post, but I chose the blog life so it’s my responsibility to be consistent. Whether it’s only a tweet or insta – story, it’s good to stay visible. Side note: don’t take on too much start small and build your posts up from there.
3. Always try to expand on social media
It sounds silly and irrelevant, but you won’t have the same audience you had 2 months ago so always generate simple posts inviting people to like your page. There’s also a gazillion apps and social media platforms out there, do some research and start on that platform as well.
4. Planning, planning, planning
Working full-time, adulting and living your life should not get in the way of blogging. So plan ahead; make a monthly roster or schedule with proposed blog topics. It sounds silly and like a lot of work but once you have that planned out, blogging won’t take up your entire day.
5. Always think of the one person
I never do things to get noticed it’s never been in me to get the praise. And when I started this page and blog that was what I kept in mind. The one person Rule: forget the masses and speak to the one person who needs it. And even if it’s only one that gets to change a habit, that one is more than enough.
With that said, don’t be afraid to start something, you might never know where it can lead you… your next empire perhaps??
