Its safe to say that being a pregnant women in todays times, with google and the older more adulted generation and all their knowledge, you never know what to believe, what to do, what advice to take and what to apply to make your pregnancy a good one. And if there’s one thing I have seen in my interaction with pregnant women daily, it is that they truly just want the best for their baby. And to do that it starts with the basics
Each of these vitamins and minerals are found in the most common foods we eat daily. No special foods needed and you certainly do not need to break the bank. So here follows a few guidelines to maintain a healthy pregnancy.
Your meal and snack times is important
And keep them at least 2-3 hours apart. Sticking to mealtimes will help you have enough energy for the day. And with that, make sure that you get the much needed vitamins and minerals daily. So you will have your 3 main meals which is breakfast, lunch and supper with snacks (2 ) in between.
Please spread the news with me: You DO NOT have to eat for 2 people; we want you healthy not rolling at the end of your pregnancy. So an extra snack after supper is sufficient which brings your snacking up to 3 per day.
Have a good variety of foods
a Good variety ensures you get the vitamins and minerals mentioned in the infographic above. a Variety means more than 2 food groups per meal and snack time. For example a variety snack will be 1 slice brown bread with peanut butter – providing starch, fibre, protein and a good fat; Add a glass of milk or yogurt and you get more protein and calcium all at once.
Another tip to add variety, the more colours (vegetables) it has on the plate, the better the variety.

Drink enough water daily
It might not seem like a big thing but you are growing a baby. And it does take its tolls on your body. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water (minimum) daily will make sure your own body’s natural processes is still functioning.
All the sugary drinks and fruit juices is not good for your weight and immune system. Snack on fresh fruit instead of drinking juice.
It might not seem like much, but it will help you have a good pregnancy. Ive put together the guidelines in a more reader and user friendly way, clicking here will take you to it.
As always your interactions and shares is highly appreciated and noted. Let us continue to share it to reach the ones who needs it most.
