Your outfit can say it all, but it’s the nails that makes the statement
And those that knows me well know I love doing my nails. Whether it has some nail art, nail decorations or just a plain pretty gel polish.
But I also know it’s important to look after my nails in between and let them have a rest like I’ve been doing for the past 2 weeks.
For 2 weeks I have not had any nail polish on not even a clear nail polish for some shine. Purely because a good manicure will look bad if the nails is not in a good condition.
So I’ve decided to let you in on what I did for last 2 weeks; 2-3 times.
Before starting with the fun stuff, dry and brittle nails is what I generally struggle with so I kept them short most of the time.
This is my basic nail care routine
If you had any nail polish on, remove any traces thereof with nail polish remover and cotton wool. Most removers do have some vitamins and oils to help build and keep your nails stronger. And then….
If you prefer your nails long, by all means go for it. But do trim them to promote continuous growth.
Here you get rid of those side growing things (I hate those). If left uncut they can become quite irritating and do not make a good #instanails post.
The only part of your nail that should be square is the shape. The rest should be nicely rounded. Hence pushing your cuticles back is important. And doing so regularly; daily or every second day if you can.
Cuticle oils helps keep your cuticles moisten and strong. And we all know it’s the cuticles that really matters in life. In the image I have the essence express dry nail drops which doubles as cuticle nourishment.
I am by no means a beauty therapist or nail technician; Im simply just sharing what I have been doing and helping my sisters (and brothers) out in getting their nails summer ready.
I did my nails this past Saturday and…..
I am quite pleased with the result 🙂 and I’ve noticed that healthier nails does make the manicure look good. Perhaps I will share on how to get a basic gel manicure at home, but for now let’s continue to prioritize nail care.
P.s all of the above applies for your feet as well!!
